Belstone Colts challenged a full-strength senior side to a 35-over match last Sunday and hung on for a hard-earned draw as the weather intervened in the final overs.  The Colts began well, restricting the seniors to 56 for three in the 14th over with good spells from Mark Endacott (4-0-15-0), Andrew Hooper (4-0-19-0), George Hall (7-0-41-1) and guest star Jonathan Parsons (4-0-8-1).  Pete Gross and Neil Rowlands then took charge with a string of boundaries before they both retired having reached half-centuries.  Chris Walsh (23) and Harry Bushin (35 not out) continued to push the score along to give a 35-over total of 230 for five.  The ten Colts bowlers used stuck to their task under pressure, with Sam Cooper and Matt Dennis also taking wickets.

The Colts other guest star Phil Woods (four 4s and a six before retiring on 44) held the top order of the youngsters reply together, with good support from Buster Francis who hit two boundaries in his 14.  Phil Dennis claimed two cheap wickets, including his son Matt for a golden duck.  Skipper Scott Tremain dominated the lower order batting, stroking 33 runs before giving Dennis Edwards a return catch with the score on 115.  With rain falling and Woods set to return to the crease as last man, both captains agreed a draw at that point.
