On Sunday our first
home game at Rew Meadow Belstone found the Moretonhampstead attack to
their liking with Wayne Pearce equalling his highest score for the
club (87 with ten fours and three sixes) and Scott Tremain completing
his maiden half century for the club (five fours in 51 not out).
Denis Edwards (42) and Harry Bushin (five sixes in a rapid 54 not out)
also found good early season form so that the 40 over score was a
formidable 260 for three, the third highest total ever made by the
club.
Aidan
Easterbrook made early inroads into the visitors reply with two
stump-shattering deliveries before the only partnership of the innings
developed between Lush (19) and Brown (39). Once they were out with
the score on 80 for four, the last six wickets collapsed for only
another five runs as Bushin (2-1-2-4) and Gomersall (2-1-3-2) proved
unplayable.
